Default CV Shaft Problem

Hello,

I own a 1992 Civic Si with a B18C1 motor matted to a B16 transmission.

I bought the car like that. I noticed that the passenger side CV boot was torn directly beside the transmission.

I bought a new shaft for a B16. It looked the part and matched up to the old shaft quite well.

3 days after the install on the way to work the C clip popped out while going down a hill.

I feared for the worst but when I noticed that it popped out I realized that maybe it was just too short. I pushed it back in and noticed the boot looked quite stretched. I assume that is what happened with the old one. To much stress and eventually ripped.

Which CV shaft should I buy for my car and will advance auto take a return on the item in the original box with receipt.

Thanks.

Ok so i went on Autozone and checked out the specs of different axles for your passanager side. SO here are some specs with what I came up with Also we need to know which Axles your using.

93 integra b17 engine/trans
Part Number: 8000
Weight: 14.95 lbs
Compressed Length (in): 23.375
Input Shaft Spline Count: 27
Output Shaft Spline Count: 26
Weight (lbs): 16.450

94 integra and 94 Del Sol B16/b18 trans
Part Number: 8006N
Weight: 15.2 lbs
Length: 23 1/2 in. (597 mm.)
Outboard Spline Count: 26
Inboard Spline Count: 27

As you can see the 94 Is longer than the 93

are you running a cable or hydraulic transmission? for hydraulic, use 94-01 integra or 99-00 civic si.

I have a hydraulic transmission and yes I bought the 99 Civic Si CV Shaft.

I'll post a picture of the boot soon. It is quite stressed looking.

Either way it should not pop out.

i'm not sure what your problem is then, as tons of other people have used the same setup without issues.

The mounts definitely don't look stock to me. It looks as though it is about an inch to inch and a half short.

Are there any longer axles that have the same spline count?

I found out my transmission mount is broken and everything is hanging on that side about half an inch.

Puzzles me how I missed that...

Should I find a stock mount of go for broke and get an aftermarket one.

(I'd like to get ONE mount without having to get a full kit)

Should this solve my problem?

Will this work? ----->https://www.innovativemounts.com/Pro...ductCode=49520

it will not work unless the car was originally an automatic. stock mounts aren't hard to find.

Alright. Went ahead and bought some stock mounts and I'll have them in this weekend. I'll keep things posted if it seems to fix the problem.

Hope it sorts my problem. The CV boot seems quite stretched when everything is seated though. Not sure if a bad mount would make such a drastic difference.

Here is the damage...
