Default Cost of CRVtec?

I had a question for all of you who had done the CRVtec build. How much did it cost? I thought I could do the whole thing for around $5k, am I mistaken? I've seen B20 short blocks for as low as $650 on PartTrader.com, as well as B16a heads for $350. Now, I hear getting a shop to hone the block to fit bigger pistons, eg 84.5mm, would run somwhere around $100-$150 for labor. I could see some good portwork for the head costing somewhere near $1k. Pistons $500, rods about the same. I've seen GSR tranny's with pretty low mileage for $700. I had hoped to use JUN3 cams, but for the time being could use ITR ones instead to save a few hundred bucks. Same goes for the rods, using ARP bolts instead of getting aftermarket rods right away. I did want to go with a Hondata ecu. I'm sure there are some other parts I'm leaving out, but I think I've got most of it covered. Now, is labor going to be extremely costly to put this thing together and installed? Was I being naive and overly optimistic? Or was my rough estimate reasonable? I asked Import Builders about their B20vtec crate motor, and they wanted $13k installed and tuned, which seemed pretty steep. Well, in any case, let me know guys. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, should've have mentioned this in my original post. This is all going to be going into my 1994 GSR. I suppose I could use some of the parts I have already, like my head, to save cost, but really wanted to minimize downtime on my car, as I don't have anything else to drive. Well, again, all advice is appreciated. Thanks.

it can be done for $5k, but won't be optimized. You may have some of the parts already needed, which will save you money.

Just a list of things needed for a good na setup are:

b20 block
b20 crank
girdle
b16/itr head (p/p, deshrouded)
high compression pistons
forged rods
itr cams
adjustable cam gears
ss valves
dual valve springs
ti retainers
head gasket
new crank bearings
new rod bearings
oil pan gasket
oil pan
crank seal
thrust washers
oil pump
water pump
arp head bolts
timing belt
misc fittings and hose for vtec oil line
header
lightweight flywheel
clutch/pressure plate
b16 tranny
lsd
exhaust
alternator
intake manifold
throttle body
fuel pump
fuel filter
fuel rail
fuel pressure regulator
fuel injectors
ignition system
coil
distributor
spark plug wires
spark plugs
valve cover
radiator
fan
misc hosing

and a few other odds and ends.

If you have to purchase everything, it will add up quickly

That is a very complete list...I'm doing an LSVtec now and costs are adding up really quickly, just make sure you do research and work out a budget so you don't run out of money.
