Rebuild time.. i need some advice
ok, i cracked my ringlands. I was thinking of just buying another ls shortblock, but i think i am going to rebuild. what pistons should i get? what else should i do to the low end? i dont want to sleve. And do i have to hone the block? please give me feedback on what to do. i was also thinking of a b20 shortblock. i am only going to run 7-10 psi on a .42 garrett. will the b20's sleves handle that fine?? i dont what this to hapen again. i am going to get a better tune and run a catch can.

The B20 sounds good. Rods and pistons are more personal preference than one is the best. Eagle rods get alot of good press and there are lots of positives about CP, Arias pistons. Honing should definately be done. With a decent tune, there should be no problem at all with even stock components @ 7-10 lbs.

For a semi-budgetish build:
LS block, bored .020 over (81.5mm) and honed - $100
Eagle H-Beam rods w/ 3/8" ARP rod bolts- $300
Wiseco pistons - $450
Obviously new bearings - $100 for ACLs

You can't go wrong with forged, period. Yes you can make any piston handle it. HOwever, you already cracked your ringlands once, on what sounds like low power, so why chance it again? Forged will give you some forgivance with tuning. I don't know, i run quite a bit on stock engine, but like its been said, do it once, and do it right.
