concerns about tuning
I have a 93 del sol with a gsr swap, currently running a single cam ecu just to get everything in motion and trouble shooting purposes, it runs ok, my concern is I have a p28 chipped for a gsr with unknown history(came with car) but in vtec near I would say around 7500 rpms I get a very small bit of smoke, will this effect tuning as in something bad happening and also thoughts on what it could be, ive narrowed it down to valve stem seals.....

I was going to get a p72, problem is I've been hitting the ground hard on this project, within the next 2 months I'm starting internals for a turbo build next year, and the ecu was free. just want to play it straight and start getting things lined up now

Re: concerns about tuning
ive looked into it and how it could very well be effecting the valves and such, the p28 says its for a stock gsr, given I'm not ***** out modded, I/h/e only right now, ive considered just hooking it up to see what happens but lol in the back of my head I'm thinking this could be a good idea or pure ****. so just thought I would see what other info was out there besides hours of endless google, and mixed information

Re: concerns about tuning
P28 comes stock on 92-95 ex and si, AKA single cam. You sure its chipped for your car?
Either get a P72 for $50 or tune with the P28 if you want it to run right

Re: concerns about tuning
Chipped P28 should be ok on your motor. Keep in mind though they are typically mapped richer than ideal. I would suggest picking up a used Hondata S300 or even and AEM EMS series 1 if you're really on a budget. Hell even Crome or Neptune would be better than the P28. You could then sell the chipped P28 to recoup some funds. You're going turbo anyway so a chipped P28 isn't going to cut it.

Using a "chipped" P28 without any idea what engine it's chipped for is just ridiculous.
Those endless hours of searching google should take about 30 seconds, and would lead you to just getting the right ECU.
