Re: what ecu would be better for a gsr del sol?????? (IHateJDM)
p28 ecu chipped to p72 specs will be the same as a p72 ecu with only 2 differences
1. p28 ecu cannot support a knock sensor (without adding the knock board off a p72)
2. p28 ecu cannot support the gsr's secondary intake butterflies
i've played around with both of these ecus, one of my customers traded me a p72 ecu for chipping him a p28 to the jdm gsr specs (his ecu was usdm but motor was jdm). i like both of them, but for my application p28's are cheaper and i don't really need the knock sensor (i tuned my turbo ej and i've never had any problems with detonation).
if you can find one for the right price, get the p72. unless you dont care about the knock sensor, and want to run say the skunk2 intake manifold or one that eliminates the butterflies. that might give you more options, especially if you want to have somebody tune your fuel/ign maps down the road, otherwise i would stick with a p72 ecu (which btw is chippable and functions the same way as a chipped p28 would)
