Code 9 CYP sensor
I have been working on getting rid of this code for over a year lol. I had an 88 dx hatch which i swapped a obdo b16 and converted it to obd1. Right when i start the car the cel comes on. I've swapped many good distributers, conversion harnesses, ecus, and the code is still there. I also wired the distrubuter directly to the ecu and still it would throw the code. Also tryed swapping the cyp wires, everything is wired as it is suppose to be. Ive ohmed all the sensors in the distributer and they are all in spec as expected and there are no shorts in the wires. ................ threw away the 88dx got a crx hf put the same setup in hf and still throws a code 9 when first started up. Not that it makes a difference but the motor is built with stock sleeves with a turbo setup. I've gone over wireing so many times that i thought it was something mechanically wrong so i swapped cams and cam gears back to factory and still the same outcome. Grounds good and everthing is wired correctly, the timeing is correct, everthing is the way it is suppose to be. I need to get rid of this problem so i can get my car tuned.
Any constructive input and people with the same on going problem is welcome.
Input concerning changing out distributers, or shorts in wiring or correct wiring are not needed.
Thanks,
-Pete

Re: Code 9 CYP sensor (p-crack)
Have you tried another ecu?
EDIT*, I guess you have.
I have come across ecus that always throw code 9 no matter what (ROM, car, etc). Not sure why either. Traced em out and I can't find any components that look physically damaged.

have you tried chipping this ecu and getting rid of it that way how dose the car run with the code?

The problem is not the code that is used, it's hardware related. The two ecu's that I have come across ran pretty rough. They both would throw code 9 running the stock ROM (ie J1 cut).

Re: Code 9 CYP sensor (p-crack)
I have been chasing this same exact problem in my friend's EG hatch for the past month. Never had a problem then one day started throwing the cyp code 9 as soon as you cranked up the motor not to mention it took several seconds to start. We have tried 4 known good distributors and have had the problem the CEL go away but come back and have the same problem not even a day later. Next, we are going to try to run the dist. wires directly to the ecu(even though i have checked for a short from the dist. to ecu) and run a different ecu and new dist. I was just wondering if you ever solved this problem as i am running into the same b/s with no luck.

Re: Code 9 CYP sensor (hatchmav)
I repinned the dizzy (plug to harness) to and reset the ECU to clear mine. It did not need a new dizzy in my case. The wires were pretty hard (from heat) and not soft and plyable as they should be. Repin and solder and it cleared the code.
