Code 41-02 sensor?
My B18B hybrid threw a code 41 again.
This will be the second O2 sensor is less than a year. I replaced the first one with a "genuine Acura" part-$200+. I have some headwork, cams, 64mm throttlebody and reworked ECU. Ever since the swap, my car seems to run rich. Can this cause 02 sensors to go bad? Any solutions to running rich (hotter plugs maybe)?
Would rather spend the $200.00/6 months on something else-R compound tires for autocross for instance.

Re: Code 41-02 sensor? (delSolLS)
my 96 dx threw a code 41 recently as well, then i replaced it with a junk yard 02 sensor [$40 compared to dealer $240], disconnected the negative battery lead for 30 mins/put it back on and it spawned 2 more codes!! so i had 65, 20 and 41...secondary 02 sensor, electrical load detector, and that primary 02 sensor...took it to 4 places to no avail...decided to hook my system back up...disconnect the negative battery post for about 2 minutes and problem solved....MIRACULOUS is an understatement

Found the problem-ground wire to the heater on the O2 sensor had come loose from the connector. Hitting too many cones at the Evolution autocross school!
I'm going to install a voltmeter to find out if the car is running rich and then decide what to do from there.
Thanks for the reply.

From what I can gather, as the O2 sensor signal increases in voltage, the fuel injectors stay on longer providing more fuel.
A/F meters convert this signal to LED lights on a guage, only they aren't as acurate. Go to the road race engineering web site-they have a little info on the voltmeter and A/F readings.
Here is part of an e-mail on the subject from a friend of mine who has a performance shop in KY. He know his stuff.
Just strip back a lil on the white wire(O2 sensor +) and do the test from there. hell if time and funds permit i would permantly hook up a voltmeter to this wire if you ever wanted to tune the car with more aggressive mods such a nos or a turbo or even higher compression pistons and cams.
i think radio shack sells small digital LCD voltmeters and if they dont then i know Road Race Engineering sells them. theyre mainly a mitsu place but their voltmeters will work on any O2. (www.roadraceengineering.com)
keeping the O2 voltage in the .75-.85v range under WOT is a safe zone. this is MUCH more accurate than ANY stupid air:fuel ratio gauge which are nothing more than a light show.
