civic CAI with h22 -- quick question
hey as topic says.
we just recentely swapped an h22 into a 93 ex coupe and with my previous z6 motor I had the civic aem CAI.
I've been using my old short ram 3" piping for the intake, and found out that the AEM Cai after experimenting fits with the h22 just fine.
What do you people think would do better with the h22?
-- slightly smaller than the h22 TB with 2.5" piping with colder air or
-- 3" short ram with the h22 throttle body
i know dyno is my friend but word of mouth and experience means something as well
tia
thing is, the cai is 2.5" piping and the throttle body is about 2.7"

Re: civic CAI with h22 -- quick question (poison)
It depends, the difference in power is gonna be real small, but the difference in sound is what I would make my decision based on. I would probably stick with the short ram because it gives your car a throatier, bad *** sound. Especially in Vtec

I always use to just have short ram, and when i went CAI on my '92 (after having a short ram on it), the sound was SOOOOOO much deeper and aggressive sounding with the CAI. It was 3" piping on a b18b, and I've got a step down rubber boot that makes the joint really smooth.
I'd say go with the 3", and turn it into a CAI. It's not too difficult. I did this using an AEM Type R CAI. Had to cut it up and rearrange it, but it works very well now.

I could probably pay Home Depot a visit and see what we can do in the plumber's section or order that pipe from JC whitney
and have me a nice 3" flat black CAI w00t
