Default Burning oil ?

I have a 95 B18B with a ported/polished head, bigger cams, reprogrammed ECU and 64mm throttle body. The bottom end had 65,000 miles when I did the swap.

The motor has always seemed to use more oil than a Honda should, but the compression was good in all cylinders (200psi) and lead down numbers were also good #1-5%, #2-5%, #3-4%, #4-6%. Coming home from an autocross I was passing a car and decelerated from 6000 rpms. Hit the throttle and noticed blue smoke in my rear view mirror.

Now I notice it after letting off the gas and getting back into the throttle any time I am at 6000 rpms +. Especially in first and second gear.

I need some help trying to figure out what is wrong. The head package came assembled supposedly with all new parts, including valve guides, seals and new valve springs/retainers.

The company I got it from says (conveniently) that it is probably oil control rings. Others I have talked to say valve seals.

Any suggestions on what I should do? The swap only has 14,000 miles on it-any help would be appreciated.

Removing the head to check on the condition of the rings might not be a bad idea. While you have the head off you can check on other things. Hondas are made to last, but when you beat the **** out of them you are going to expect to put more wear on the motor than intended. If you don't feel like spending the money and you are still making good power, don't worry about it. Just keep up with oil filling & changes.
