BrownKid's H2B
Ok as a few of you may know. I built and H2B using the evo kit back in 2008 and had nothing but issues and not help from evo. So I spent the last two years trying different setups well we finally got the car shifting perfect. Now me being a h-series guy wanted to see what the car will do with just bolt on's. So heres what I got.
Stock JDM H22
Type S cams
Skunk2 Intake
Edelbrock 75mm TB
Megan Header Smashed collector
3in Exhaust
Made 217hp and 174 tp on a dyna pak Dyno
FINALLY got to take it to the track. On 22'' slicks ran consistent 13.0-13.1 but I was running out of gear I think I need 24.5" I finished the 1/4 at aprox. 8300 rpm but the car doesnt make power after 7800.
We have come along way and I just wanted to thank everyone that helped:
Eric and Jay from Teknotik www.teknotik.com
Franklyn from AVID www.avidracing.com
Butu Couldn't have done it with out you
All the guys at my work CTC264 Tony Keith Gordy... Really appreciate all the help.
Tony and Jeff the other H2B owners where always comparing and helping each other out.
and I cant forget my new assistant you know who you are.

Re: BrownKid's H2B
Do not get a 24.5, it is too large for your power. If you do not want to bump up your rev limiter, look into a 23" M&H.
Car looks good. I have been saying for years the EVO kit is ****.

Re: BrownKid's H2B
what are you launching at? I was with boostedj1 today, Using 22" slicks I was running 1.7 60s consistently and hit a couple 1.6s, trapping 106mph and running 12.5-12.6s. Stock H22A making 199whp. My launch control is 7600. What tranny?

Track prep may have been the problem, what was the temperature in Canada that day?
Krut and boostedej1, what were the temps in Minnesota? What suspension are all 3 of you guys using?

Thats too much, like 88ed8 said. Try 7.5-8. I ran 13 when i made 196 and couldn't go any faster than 13.1

Re: BrownKid's H2B
13 psi is def way to high, mine were at 8. 7600 feels perfect for me, just a slight preload and dump basically and it hooks immediately

Re: BrownKid's H2B
i agree with everyone else, launch higher and drop your tire pressure. also, what rpm are you shifting at? i know you said your motor doesnt make power past 7800rpm but shifting higher than that around 8200-8300rpm puts you right where you want to be when you shift. you'll be suprised how acouple hundred rpms makes a difference at the track.

I'm gonna try and go back to the track this weekend. And drop the psi down to 7-8 launch 7000-7600 and gonna leave my shift point at 7800 I think it should be ok.

Re: BrownKid's H2B
I'd shift at 8 if i were you. My powerband when i made 196 was absolutely terrible. It started to fall off at 7000, But if i tried to shift 7, 7.5k it would consistantly slower than when i shifted at 8. Work on cutting that 60ft down to atleast a 1.6-1.7. Then work on where you want to shift moving it up after every race to see if theres any difference. That smashed header is hurting your top end.

Re: BrownKid's H2B
^yup. By looking at your graph, If you shift at 8, its going to drop you to between 6 and 6.5 each gear, which is right when your car starts making good power. You'd be amazed at what a few extra hundred rpms will do
