B20Vtec What Valves to use ?
what's going on HT? I am currently trying to source out oarts for a B20Vtec setup and I was wondering what Valves would work best for b20b block 12:1 CR with a B16 head. I was Looking into ferrera valves with Skunk 2 stage 2 Cams. Does any one know what valves would be best for my setup. I am going for 230HP and to be used at the track every other weekend. My current parts list consists of :
ARP Rod Bolts - 107-6002
ARP Gsr Head Bolts - 208-4303
Golden Eagle B20 Head Gasket - GHG100-84
ACL Race Bearing Set Rods Main Thrust B16 B18 B20 LS - 1T1957 4B1946H 5M1959H
hastings Piston Rings - 2C4973
Supertech Valve Seals
BECK/ARNLEY Water Pump - 1312191
GATES Blue Timing Belt - T247RB
MELLING B20 Oil Pump - M313

Re: B20Vtec What Valves to use ?
going that far into it, do REAL rods and pistons, and safely get some RPM out if it, if you do arp rod bolts, then you need the rods bored/honed to be perfect circle again, i seen too many people just throw rod bolts on, and then spin a bearing within 1000 miles.
you mention hastings rings, but no pistons? i suggest sk2 or eagle rods for aroune $350, and wiseco pistons around $440
you can get a "oem" water pump by NPW for $44 on ebay, thats a the oem pump on a lot of the japanese motors. a yomata of you can find it!
use OEM oil pump, ive yet to personally see a b series oem pump break.
use NGK v powers for a type r, BKR7E-11, advance auto stocks them
you can get a better injector liek stated above, i bought oem acura RDC 410s with adapter clips and hats to fit a b series rail. they spray better, and have been dyno'd to make more power over the old style injectors like RC/Precision/ etc (and get a 255 pump)
and if your paying labor to tear the head down for valve guides, jsut spend the $300 on super tech valve train and have it put in.
the sk2 "pro" manifold suites most people who aren't HIGH comp and BIG cams.(if you are using tuner2s, PRO mani, if you are going PRO2s, the ultra Mani,) and you need cam gears for Pro series cams, and a experienced cam degree person to setup the cams so nothing hits.
Ferrea makes good valves, i did there stainless valves, not the $150/set ones, but the 2nd better set they sell.
Hope all this is useful, ive personaly had 3 built all motor setups, several turbo setups, and i tune b series cars on the side on weekends.. been doing it since 2001
