Default b20 vtec Quick Question

yea i have a b20 vtec hatch and i recently put it together...the block is stock and the way i got it is the way i put the head on it supposedly i had 45k the head is a port n polished b16 it has aftermarket valve springs and retainers skunk 2 stock comp valves oem head gasket ...so now to the question i was wonderin if i can put stage 1 tuner series skunk 2 cams on there w/o smakin the valves i will be takin it up to 8.5 after it is fully tuned i used to have another similar set up with type r cams and it was always fine...but i kno the stage ones are a lil more aggressive so i just want to make sure..THANX

youd be really safe with 2.0 itr or p30 style with the right valve reliefs. Im runnin a b20vtec with r head cams and tranny its fine. I think the tuner series stage 1s are almost like an CTR cam. U should b fine, but i wouldn't go bigger without the right valve reliefs.

Clay the pistons and run the engine through a few revolutions with the head on but not fully torqued. That way you'll know if they're hitting or not. Considering that it'll take you 15 minutes you'd be mad to waste a headgasket and all the time putting it in only to find that you've bent all your valves.

stock B20 bottom end will not enjoy 8.5k rpms. maybe once or twice but after that it will say thanks but no thanks and let go.
