B20/Vtec...Ls/Vtec???
i wanna build an Ls/Vtec motor or B20/Vtec...
i plan on using an ITR topend with JG edelbrock intake, stock injectors,Crower Vtec cams, with crower springs and retainers....
what do you guys recommend for High rev Applacations??? i'm gonna go with different pistons....prolly SRP...what compression ratio should i get...i don't wanna have to sleeve the block...just pistons, rod bolts, and ARP head studs...any other things i should know about...i'm gonna be running a chipped P28 ecu and a S-afc controller...someone help me with this...i wanna run around 9000-9500 rpm's
thanks alot!

"SRP" perhaps?
get 12.5:1's
whay not get a B18C and build that???!!! probly better for higher revs than a frankenstein engine.
sounds like quite a good, well thought out plan if your wallet can keep up
might wanna budget for an injector upgrade to keep it all non-detonating...

ya what size injectors you think???
gonna cost alot less than building the turbo motor i wanted...
i'm using an ITR head cuz i already have it...so....

My friends CRVTEC runs 12.5:1 compression we just run it on RC 310's and they have worked fine so far.... 12.62@107 all motor daily driven EK. We never dynoed but it's just tuned by feel with an ITR ECU and VAFC.

Re: B20/Vtec...Ls/Vtec??? (JDMspecEG6)
he's running a B20 bottom end with stock crank and sleeves????
lemme know...cuz i'm leaning more towards the B20 since it has a bigger stroke....i heard something about the cranks giving out or the sleeves cracking...is this true? i wanna rev to 9000rpm's will the B20 internals handle it???
thanks alot!!!

dude, what more help do you need?
sounds like you have a sweet plan for your set up,
forged pistons/rods, ITR topend, JG intake,Crower cams, crower springs and retainers, chipped P28 with AFC...
you wanna know how high to rev???
well, build that sucker and get onto a dyno!!!
that is the only way to know where you are making power to,
and with a tight top end and built bottom end, 9000rpm will be no hassel, it will depend whether the cams make power past there...
no-one ever won a race by reving high, its how you use revs that counts

it should be able to, as long as you dont abuse it, and if you use lighter forged components.
you should make sure the oil pump is good and you balance the crank and flywheel at least...

i just meant that it should be a 'good' one. ie newish
a machine shop can balance things, i would suggest getting them to balance the 'entire reciprocating assembly' ie the crank and flywheel with rods and pistons attached...

The B20 block will not hold 9000rpm's without a sleeve, atleast not for long. The LS block will handle the extra rpm's better but it will need internals. Check out B20vtec.com they have more info on the B20 block.

Yes.
was it hi-rpm operation that caused it?? were you using forged rods/pistons?
TIA for you help here, the best information can usually come from hindsight...

id sleeve it why spend all that money and not sleeve a block with weak sleeves its like buying springs and no struts its 1/2 that battle
