any of the b18c's will naturally make more power than a b20b/z, but they cost a lot more, around here anyway. The jdm b20b engine is an extremely good value, especially if you have an integra, then you only have to get the long block, under 500$ here.

i have no idea if i even answered your question

As Daver said, there is a huge cost difference. Comparing stock to stock, The b20 and GSR make almost the same amount of torque, but the B20 brings it on much sooner. If you are autocrossing or just having fun, the B20 will do well and save you money. If you want better overall performance the B18C is a good decision.

a b20b/z will generally peak about 10 more wheel torque than a gsr engine, plus have that and more in the low end. b20z's also make stock b16hp, with basic intake and exhaust bolt-ons, in obd1 integra trim.

Regarding the B20...I know that it would be great, relaible and cheap power but how does it hold up to continuous use? Autocrossing or drag racing, regardless of how intense is about short bursts. What about extended track time? I had considered a B20 when my built B18C1 greneaded but I was concered about durability for track use.

if operated within its designed parameters, i don't see why it would be any different than any other normal factory honda engine. change the oil annd don't over heat it, and it should last just fine. The b18c's are more built up, but they have to work a lot harder to rev to 8k+. Under 500$ per engine, tho, you can't go wrong.

here's some b20 design info http://dwolsten.tripod.com/articles/jan96a.html
