Default b18c-r

Car: 1992 cx
Motor: 1996 B18C-R jpec

I have seen many topics about this swap and also a how to made by tom but i need to know about the vtec pressure switch.

On my vtec assembly i see where the switch should go but its plugged up. Can i install the switch there? Or do i need the whole Assembly?

I had the same issue... it seems that the JDM vtec solenoids have a plug there in stead of the sensor.

I took care of the problem by putting my old vtec solenoid on in place of the JDM one (I originally had a d16z6). I think that if you use the JDM ecu, then you don't need that switch... but anyone who knows more feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought 14 was the vtec solenoid. But that has nothing to do to where the pressure switch goes...So i am stumpd on what i need to buy.

Can someone with the knowlage tell em what numbers i need from the pic?

Thanks need to get this motor running!

I think you need #9 (the whole assembly) unless you can unplug the "plugged" hole where the vtec press. switch goes....

If you can, then just buy the vtec press. switch & be done with it..(#15)

Two ?'s
1. Which wiring harness are you using?
2. What ecu are you using?
Answer those ?'2 and i'll be able to help you. Shoot me an IM if you like.

Apexi-ITR knows the exact answer because he did the exact same swap in his hatchback.

There was a very old topic about this, so it will be hard to search because I don't know who started it.

I *think* Apexi-ITR/Hurrell posted in one of my old topics concerning the VTEC pressure switch, so let me find it.

I think he simply took the VTEC pressure switch from his old D16Z6 and bolted it up somehow, but let me double check.

i had the same problem. i wired the vtec pressure in with the vtec solenoid wire and solved the problem. but now, i have to make sure my motor is warmed up and has ample oil pressure before i take the revs to vtec

If that's the case you need to get the whole box #9 that is what I was gonna help you do, but you never replied to my IM.

Tom is correct. You need the whole pressure switch assembly off of a USDM vtec car. I got mine off a GSR. I would imagine a SOHC D16 vtec motor would work as well.

This is of course if you are running a USDM ECU.

Swap the solenoids out and you should be good to go.
