Will the GSR Engines work with an automatic?

I have a 91 GS that needs a new engine, thought maybe I could start off with a more powerful engine. I know that an ITR Engine would be to powerful for the tranny, but maybe the 20hp difference between the B18C and the B18C5 would be enough for the tranny. If possible, a GSR tranny would be used as well.

Auto-to-manual swap is out of the question otherwise I would just do that.

I have not heard anyone of going a GSR with an auto tranny.

They usually just convert to manual. Other than that, I don't know if problems will be arisen especially with an ECU swap or what not.

What ECU were you going to be using? If you used the GS ECU, you will not have vtec and I don't know what extra codes will be thrown.

If you are using a P72, then you will have to convert it to manual as the P72 is a manual ecu.

I'm guessing that the P72 is the GSR ECU. Hmm....not sure what then. I can program ECU's from manual to automatic, so maybe i'll just do it backwards and cross my fingers

 

I heard you can mate the LS auto tranny to the GSR motor.

 

yes they will mate, but the ECU will not like it using a P72 (GS-R ECU)

 

Does the GSR come in an automatic? Even as a factory option, possibly a JDM option?

 

yeah. some jdm gsr's comes in automatic.

You can get a P28 ecu in automatic.

 

Known fact actually. Some GSR's did come in auto in Japan for a year or 2.

 

i have a auto JDM gsr im my crx...

and if anybody wants to buy the JDM AUTO gsr tranny it IS FOR SALE...and cheap...

$150 and its yours...u pay shipping!...i had the auto OBD1 p72 ecu but its gone now

 

Where are you located in the world, and how many miles are on the tranny?

also, what's the gear ratio of that transmission.

im in northern CA...41k on the motor when i got it and i never used tranny...my crx is a 5speed

 

you don't happen to know the gear ratio do you...and if it would work with a B18A1, modified, engine.

 

no i dont have the ratios...i have been told that is has slightly shorter gears then the auto ls which makes sense since its off of a vtec motor...

I beleive it will fit a b18a and i know it will fit a b18b...

if you want it i am willing to ship it as long as i dont have to pay for it...

one problem tho....i dont know how to ship a tranny and i thin kits to heavy for ups to ship
