Re: B18C bottom end with B16 head... (blastcrx)
Damn... i got exactly 3mph too when i switched out my b16 block for b18c1. thats tight at least i know everything is cool then.... also what ecu are you running? because i am running an obd-0 Pr3 with spoon1 program 4500vtec and 8500 rev limit but still shifting at 8000 and letting 4th rev out with slicks. but i have nothing to tune my fuel with and i seem to be running lean. with straight 112 octane i only got to advance my timing up to 19degrees before it would start detonating....

I'm running a pwo. The next thing you buy should be a fpr. Extra fuel is cool. Especially when you can't afford a hondata or even a v-afc. They also got preassure gauges for fluids at home depot for $6. Plumb it into your fuel line with misc fittings (about $2), and you just saved $22 on a b&m gauge. Make sure it's in the plumbing section. they have other ones to meter compressed air, but they are no good for fluids.

Do you mean with the stock GSR pistons? Works fine for us...

Your best bet is to find one locally or on a board... They are really hard to come by. You can also buy a built GSR short block from a few engine builders without a core required...

I did this exact build up on my EG, after I cracked the back of my 2nd gen JDM B16A block .. (that's a whole nother story.....)
Annnnnnnnnyways so I found a JDM B18C block, and I used;
-GS-R water pump
-GS-R timing belt
-GS-R timing belt cover (the short one between the valve cover and the bottom cover; it's TALLER than the B16A because of the taller block)
-Del Sol VTEC oil pump (same part# as GS-R)
-TYPE-R water pipe (the coolant pipe that runs from the back of the block, from the water pump to the thermostat housing)
-GS-R oil pan (wanted the "correct" one for the block)
-GS-R ARP head studs

Isnt the 92-95 GSR oil pan the same as B16? I thought the numbers cross referenced when I was looking for a b16 pan. Could of been LS though. I'll look into it and post back.

Re: B18C bottom end with B16 head... (JDM88EF9)
I Did this setup in my old EG, mainly all type r parts for head including cams
jdm itr pistons and everything else was all oem parts, etc
milled the head 15 thousandths and had about 11.6:1
ran great, totally stock timing/fuel, untuned 13.82 @101.45mph on shitty tires

That's a nice time with that setup. What suspension were you using at the time and what was your 60ft time.
lol, actually i was running the original factory 1992 honda shocks!!! yes yes they were blown to hell and back probably a few times...and some h&r lowering springs
60 foot was like a 2.1, i would have to look at my slip when i got home to be sure though

Re: B18C bottom end with B16 head... (xJDM88EF9x)
Does anyone know about using CTR pistons with this kind of setup (b18c1 block and b16 head). Does anyone know of any clearence problems that might exist?? And would the compression be to high to run on 94 octane??
and
What pistons would be best to run with this setup??
Thanks...
Damn this thread rules!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: B18C bottom end with B16 head... (JDM88EF9)
Why does he have 900cc injectors and only running 505whp. Shouldn't it be more?

injector size has nothing to do with power output except its upper limit. 505 whp is impressive at 22psi. very impressive.
