B18B code 4 help
Drawing a small blank on this one. Might just be something little i over looked or just a distributor problem.
I just put a 2000 B18B1 in a 99 EX (CDM SI) civic. I think the harness is a D16Y7 harness. but the car would have had a D16Y8 in it from the factory. I just dont see a VTEC plug on it.
I also am running a OBD1 P75 ecu. Has a OBD2B-OBD1 ECU jumper harness, we converted the harness and ecu pins for a 2 pin IACV, and wired the air intake temp to the correct connector. Also spliced the Distributor car harness from a 8 pin to a 10 pin, and currently just have the blue wire taped off. Car will idle fine, and seems happy. But it wont rev above 4000RPM. Found we have code 4. So we thought we had to wire the CFS in. So we did. Still code 4. So we tried the CFS bypass trick. Still code 4. then i relized oh wait, code 4 is for CPS, so i tried another distributor, but it is one for a GSR. Wouldn't even start the car. Only thing is, i ran a Non-VTEC distributor on a VTEC motor for a year racing. Had to cut 1 tab off. Worked great. It also had all D-series internals in it. lol.
So question #1, will a VTEC distributor work on a NON-VTEC motor? ( I know not all the bolt holes line up.)
#2, is code 4, for the CPS inside the distributor?
#3, When we spliced the 8PIN to 10PIN for the distributor, is it straight pin to pin, outside the IGN wire? (Black with yellow tracer)
Any help would be great, Car is being built for ChumpCar racing. So all the EVAP stuff is gone.
