B18 in EG ==> hood hits valve cover
WTF??!!?!? Absolutely every thread I've come across on this topic said that there aren't any problems. The motor is a '97 b18b1 and the car is a 92 eg8. I couldn't even close the hood and now it only closes (and still touches) because I did the gay-*** washer thing on the hinges. Now it looks like I was in an accident AND the hood still touches the motor.
Has anyone come across this? Is there a non-stupid solution to a rediculous problem? PS - I'm not adding a hood scoop...

thats really suprising, i've got a b18c and its kinda close, but it dosn't touch. and a b18b is shorter. did you use the b18 mounts?

yes, and be careful not to ef up your hood. also ive seen people dent in the skeleton cuz it only barely touched. but it seems for you its not this way

Shitty deal. Is there a decent way of doing this so it won't rust?

I mean if u want u can jump on a bandwagaon or 2 and just space out your hood "cowl style" if you dont want to trim....
As for rusting just get some clear rustolem and spray where you cut.... makes life easy

Does this stuff work? It won't get baked off by the heat or flake off from cold-assed winter in canaduh?

i think the reason u are hitting is because u are using the Del Sol drivers side upper mount, if u switch to the teg mount u shouldnt hit. i thought the delsol mount was only for b16 and they have a shorter deck so maybe taht mount sits the motor a bit higher?
worth a try if u have 1 of those mounts

That's pretty insightful. I don't have a DC mount laying around I could use and I would rather not buy one if it makes no difference...
For all the people with a B series swap, could you please post the following?:
-motor and year (valvecover is different on mine than some other LS ones)
-mounts used
-any clearance issues

93 GSR
Car: 93 coupe
integra mounts
Hood: VIS
it barely hit because of the VIS hood, cut that part over the dist. and never had a problem.
Customers car i did:
96 LS
CAR: 93 hatch
Integra mounts
Stock hood
No issuses whats so ever.
Try picking up an integra mount.

I dropped a B18C1 into a 94 coupe and using hasport solid mounts, it was fine. Plenty of clearance and no hitting. When we first did it, we had the wrong mount for the drivers side and used a DC mount and it was broken internally so it did hit a couple times then but when replaced with the hasport, it has been fine ever since.

I have a 93cx hatchback and i put my gsr motor in it with avid racing motor mounts and it hits. on the far left corner away from the cockpit.. I have a cervinis ram air hood fiber glass i cut alot of it out. Some of it hit the radiator as well. Because i was using the long GSR radiator. instead of the civic shortie.
avid racing mounts on the driver side make you take out the studs that usually have big nuts that go on them. With this setup i had to use bolts that go down and the plates touch eachother. I would not recommend this kit to anyone. the tranny mount needed washers and it also bent the hell out of the plate on the tranny mount which came from avid.
You know how the mount is supposed to be form fitted for the tranny. The mount they give you is flat which makes it a pain in the ***. good luck.
I know alot of pople use longer bolts and a bunch of spacers to raise the hood a bit .. I personally think it looks kinda tacky but it works and its cheap.
