Default B18...difference in years make the motor different?

Sup yah-
My buddie just swapped a B18B1 from a 92 teg into his 94 shell...umm...i've heard that these two years are different...then someone said they're not. Someone clear this up for me please. Oh yeah...we went to crank the freshly swapped motor the other night and the bizzatch won't turn over. My guy said he broke the Knock sensor *green plug in back of block*. Will this be a problem? We switched spark plugs too...
