B16A1 into EG civic, is 5th gear 4500rpm @ 75mph normal?
My car has issues, and I don't know what to do about them. When my car is rolling in neutral it idles about 500rpm higher than when it is stoped, so that is about 2000rpm. When I am on the highway in 5th gear I am at about 4500 rpm doing 75 mph. Is this normal? I get terrible gas mileage and I was wondering if my high idling/reving engine wsa the blame.

do a maintence step like 15k service
you have an SI, its tranny is extremely close geared
the tach is off also...but its suppose to be in the ballpark.

The 75mph@4500rpm is normal, thanks to the tiiite gear ratio a B16A tranny has.
