Default B16A1 or a D16ZC....

a neighbor near me is selling a d16zc full swap..... but i want a b16a1.... i dont like the cable tranny of the d16.... but its going to be cheaper...... and i was wondering. since its not v-tec...... how less power will it have.....compared to the b16a1......im kind of a n00b when it comes to these engines but i am learning...... please gimme your opnions..... im not getting h22 or anything esle either b16a1 or d16zc

The 1st gen b16a also comes with a cable trans. I would go with the b16a because it has more power and a greater wealth of aftermarket parts.

sheit i thought bout it its either a sohc vtec then spend my money on getting it hella souped up.....or just get a b16 (if i can find one around here) i dont wanna end up paying 400 bucks for shipping and other **** but yeah i do like how alot of peeps have parts for b16s n what not..... thanks for the help.....

Thats what i would do. Get a SOHC VTEC then get your regular bolt-ons (i/h/e) and maybe a new clutch. How much do you plan on spending and who is going to do the labor?

You live in CA which there are tons of engine importers within driving distance. I live in KY and have bought 4 motors with no problems. You need to try a little harder.

You really have an easy decision...... b16a..... 8K RPM 160 HP DOHC VTEC, or a 130 HP non VTEC motor, really a no brainer.


A b16a with bolt-ons will smoke a ZC with bolt-ons

I have a d16zc dohc 11:1 compression web stage 3 cams intake header and exhaust and i beat si all day long. so i would go with the d16zc i ran a 9:00 seconds flat in a 1/8 mile
