GSR= the most supported engine in the aftermarket. You can easily turn it to ITR specs. Then again, I am only speaking this because I have one in my 93 hatch.

GSR in a hatch = Power & Reliability.

Another big factor though is your budget. Money makes the world go round.

the GSR will have lots of torque compared to the B16A...but YOU decide, it's your $$$!

more displacement in the B18c which equals more power, and more potential

Default yep

i also agree with a GSR....well maybe that's because i already have a b16 in my EF

Well a b16 with Type-R internals is always good

b18c..trust me....have a mildly setup b16a n/a and drove in a b18c eg hatches.....the difference is defiantly there.....

spend the extra now and benefit later.....most people with b16a always learn that the 1.6l is good but the 1.8 was a much better choice...

if you can get a b18c with a y21 or ITR tranny, thats defiantly improvement....next would be some JDM ITR pistons, CTR/ITR cams, skunk2 manifold, re-chipped ecu, and some good JDM or DC JDM 4-1 header....well into 170whp mark and 130lbs of torque

with b16a you always be about 10-25whp and 15-25lbs of torque behind......

actually it depends
if your goind NA get the GSR
if your gonna turbo get the b16 and possibly throw a b18 bottom end (if you wanna build engine)
that will lower compression to somwhere around 9:5:1 and youll be able to run a little more boost.

and whats this about JDM not being smog legal? and if it isnt HOW do you get it legal?

Hmm..
well I've experienced both of these engines......well, actually, a B17A not a B16, but you can make a B16A just as dope as a B17A with the right setup.

B16A has a high-end powerband.
B17A is a step-up from a B16A, more power, but not quite as much as a B18C.
B18C has better all over powerband.

I don't bash on any of these engines..they're all dohp in they're own ways.
I see it like this though...
what chassis do you have? If you have an integra or civic coupe or a 4 door....just go B18C...those are heavier chassis and need power to tug all the wieght - makes sense right?
If you own a hatchback....you have more of a dilemma on your hands since you have a lighter chassis to begin with. Either a B16A/B17/B18C is good in a hatchback. Of course you can make way good power with a B18C, but B16/17's are fun too. I actually miss my B17 engine 8(... it was a high compression (CTR pistons) - short gear (ITR gears w/4.785 fd) setup..and I loved it. I like my current setup now too..but I always reminisce about my original B17 love.. the top end power was o-soo tasty... but now I have power from 4000rpm onwards rather than around 5200rpm onwards...it's cool, I enjoy it, but there's just something about B16's and B17's that appeal to me more....I guess its just the top end powerband....

...don't even bring up LS or B20/VTEC .....I even can't stand those UNRELIABLE half *** VTEC setups. Those 50/50 vtec setups rank up in the lame zone along with those fawking wack *** rip off SPOOM wheels..

good luck with whatever you go wiff.

i had the same problem as you...but i figured why not do it right the first time? b16 is a good engine but the 128 tq kinda appeals to me..considering i had a puny *** d15 piece of shizzit, wayyyy big difference

I'm sure there's a way to....but I wouldn't know cuz I don't care for unreliable half-*** vtec engine setups!
