B16A/2 Engine Swap
HI, I got reffered to this site from http://www.ozhonda.com.au to see if you could give me some help with my problems.
I have a 1992 Honda Civic GL EG Hatch and I am wanting to put a DOHC Vtec motor into it. I have been told to get the B16A/2 as it will be fairly easy/cheap to do.
I will be doing most of the work with my dad who is a mechanic but I need to know what is involved. I have been told that I should be take the existing engine out then drop the new one in and get a new rear engine mount ???
Can someone please tell me exactly what is involved in doing this swap? I am in Australia and I think this site is American?
If you can help, please post.
Thnx.

That will show you the right mounts to use. Now I do not know What trim a GL will equal in US trim, but the wiring should be little.
Now, in Australia, (if I remember correctly), your car should be Right Hand Drive, If so, a JDM swap should be plug and play.
I hope I questioned your questions.

Thnx for that, I thought no-one was going to answer
That does help me a bit, but I'm a bit confused on whether the car that he is talking about in that link will be the same as I have now due to it being in a different country?
He said he is getting a GSR motor? That's not the same as a B16A/2 is it?
And if I read this right, I will need to get the rear transmission bracket, the A/C mount (get a del sol DOHC VTEC A/C mount to keep your A/C, p54), and the front side transmission mount from 94+ integra.
Is this all right? And that's all I will need plus the front cut to put it in? I won't need to do any choppng will I?
Thnx.

Thats what I do not know. The US does not have a GL trim only Si/DX/VX/CX trims.
The JDM (if that is the swap you are getting) should be plug and play (make sure that they do not cut it, cause they do when they take it out of the car). It should be a pretty easy swap.

Well, GSR is alittle more wiring, but it is the same basic swap. The same motor mounts (b-series) will work on any B-series in your car (94+ integra, 92+ JDM civic B-series). Now, I do not know what models or trims were offered in your country, so some info may differ.

I think you got it. Now, I do not know if your Throttle cable will work, so grab the B16 one. Your exhaust will not line up (too short) just get it extended and your set. You will also need the shift linkage off the B16 for it to work, your D-series linkage will not work. No, no chopping, it is a bolt in swap. Now, you should replace: timing belt, spark plugs and wires, coolants hoses (your stock one will not work, get del sol DOHC VTEC hoses), dizzy cap and rotor, and I think that is it.
