Default B16 Swap Shift Linkage

Alright I have a B16 in 88 CRX DX. Well my 3rd gear grinds, probably not related to the problem Im going to describe.

Well, I have HCP mounts and shift linkage. Well I tried to put in a Honda short shifter and found out HCP shift linkage doesnt use honda shifter so I couldnt put in even a stock civic shifter. While it was out of my car i compared it with civic shifter and the length from the ball to the ring that connects to the bottom part of the shift linkage was shorter then Civic. Will this cause problems?

Also, the part that holds the shifter (ball seat, and stuff) is straight with the shift linkage bar. Well I aquired civic shift linkage and it is off to the right of the bar... hard to explain but if you are catching my drift is there a way to modify the 2 shifters together so that I can use Honda shifter. Or maybe there is a honda shift linkage that has a shifter holder (not sure what to call it, the part with the ball seat) this part needs to come straight off the shift linkage bar.

I know this seems rather confusing but if anyone is still with me.. Can you help me figure this out?
