Default b16 head on b18 block

ok...well im not getting into the whole story but we swapped a b16 into a 92 4 door civic. a few months later we put a drag turbo kit on it and some dumbass that was helpin us hooked up the wastegate wrong and it never opened....destroyed the ringlands. well we got a b18 block from a gsr and we used the b16 head. well we found out on our own that u needed to use the b18 timing belt becuase the deck height was taller, but after we got it all together and in, we started it up and there was oil leaking from between the block and head. we used a multi layer steel headgasket from a b16 with arp head studs....are the b16 headgaskets different from the b18? we compared it to the b18 one and it looked the same..but we did the same with the timing belt..but apparently it was different. i need to know all the differences. all help would be great.
