b16 in ef sedan, wont start, no spark, ecu code 15
hello, I am getting quite frustrated at this swap. I have been without a car for 5 weeks now because we have not been able to get the car to start. all the wiring checks up good (have checked everything lots of times again and again) my grounds are very very good, engine cranks when trying to start good, but gets no spark. I have replaced the distributor, yesterday a different ecu (PW0) and I went through the helms method of testing for code 15 (ignition output signal) and I tried a different ignitor, and still nothing. I need a car as soon as possible and I don't know what more to do. any suggestions are welcome, but I know the wiring and grounds are good, so don't bother with those. Thanks!

Did you mix up the 2 white wires on the distributor wiring? The thick white wire is the ignitor signal that goes to B15 and B17 on an OBD0 ECU and the thin white wire is the CYP-M wire that goes to B12 on an OBD0 MPFI ECU.

no I did the continuity check on that, b15 goes to the itnitor signal wire at the dizzy... its the one that stands out fomr other pairs...

ok update time:
I jsut got a replacement distributor in the mail, installed it and still error code 15 from new ecu... grounds are 100% good... gets fuel, no spark (hence the code 15) I need help on this matter... going on week 8 without this car...

Hey, I don't know if you're problems solved or not but check the icm. The exact same problem happened to me. But then again if you got an entirely new dizzy than that shouldn't be a problem.

ok well I tried using a new wire that rins from ecu pin B15 straight to the plug at the dizzy and error code 15 went away! there had to have been a short in the wire somewhere
the downside, is that now I have a code 8... TDC... I had that problem when I first installed the engine.... thought that was done with, but still no spark action that is needed for the fuel to ignite I will try doing the same with these wires...

I'm having the same problem as you, got fuel, checked all the wiring and ground, but no spark. Swapped an LS-VTEC into a 91 sedan its been going on about a month now.

good news: I got it tor fire up! the main issue was that the wires for the TDC and crank sensors were in the wrong places at the distributor plug. you should look into that if you had to do a mpfi swap for it. the only problem now is I get a CEL and error code 23 for knock sensor and I'll track that down asap because the ecu is limiting my revs to about 3200 rpms and with the s1 tranny I can top out at I think 55 or so in 5th LOL.... anyway check for the proper wire placement at the distributor. I finally got it after 9 weeks sheesh...

I'm hoping mine is the same thing, knew it had to be something with the wiring but could never figure out what. Fingers are crossed

ya I fixed the rev problem by running two more wires directly to the distributor from the ecu. I do not know why those wires don't work, as they were the same for the last engine... so just try the jumper idea and maybe that will work.
