blkcivicIA, how about taking a picture of the oil filter on your engine and post it here. Love the swap by the way.

I have a 1999 ex that had a d16y8 in it
i put a h22a4 in it with a new 8 pin distributor
my problem is that I am not getting any spark
the motor cranks and turns when trying to start it but won’t turn over due to no spark
Any ideas?

Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here
Are there eight wires in the plug ??? If so, this would suggest you either have an external coil type distributor OR an H23A distributor which has the power wire in the eighth position. How about posting a photo of the distributor plug on your engine harness (showing wires) and a pic of the distributor plug wires... it will make it easier for us to help you.

I have a 92 prelude type s with a h22z1 and now I'm not sure which ecu to run it with. Reason is that the engine is supposed to run on obd2, but I only have the obd1 plugs in the car. What do I need to do?

Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here
It is basically the same as a USDM H22A4... which is almost the same as the USDM H22A1. The only "plug-n-play" OBD-1 factory ECU found here in the US would be a P13 from a '93-95 Prelude VTEC... however, I would suggest a tuneable solution like a P28 with a Hondata s300.

Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here
Hey guys i had a question with the stamps on here so this is a h22a VTEC black top motor and was wondering if this is either a 92 or 93 since it was made on the 11 month of 91 and they are made a year prior of release i would guess it a 92 since it's barely a month before the next year huh?

Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here
Good Accident... the 1992 Repair manual doesn't have H22A information in it because it wasn't available in the USDM model until 1993... and it turns out the manual you have is a 1993 !!!
Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here

NEED HELP ASAP!
I dont have too much mechanical experience but I have a h22a5 in my del sol. The timing belt needed replacing so I took it off once everything was at TDC (so everything was timed and in the same rotation.) However when I took off my cam gears they turned just a little now the cams arent at TDC but still in the same rotation as the crank. To get it back in time do i just need to rotate anticlockwise the cams once and the crank twice? Do i also need to rotate both balance belt gears or can they stay where they are (at the proper marker) because I believe they dont affect the timing, or do i also need to rotate them and if I do how many times?

Re: Ask your H22 Questions Here
Hey everyone,
So I decided to swap out the steel oil pan that came on my JDM H22A Euro-R motor that I've put in my CRX because the pan was bent up a bit on the bottom, and I purchased one of the cast aluminum versions that came on the '97-'01 Preludes. I have found out through searching some of the threads on oil pans here that this pan uses a different oil strainer, however the Honda part number I get from searching on HPU (15220-P5P-000) shows to be discontinued... Is there an equivalent one that I can use with this oil pan? Also, the aluminum brace that fits around the oil pan doesn't clear, so is there a different PN that I would use with this oil pan? I haven't been able to find that part listed (but may be referring to it by the wrong name). Thank you in advance!
Jack
