Default anybody use b16 program on a sohc vtec???

I was wondering on how it ran. I have a 4g civ dx hb and I was thinkin bout puttin a y8 head on it. I was wondering how it ran with the b16 program since it's originally a vtec program.

it will run worse
i used a chipped p71 on my d16z6 and the low end torque (or lack of) is gone, and the ecu trys to give you high end, but your sohc simply doesnt produce high end power....

cliffs: runs like poop

just run the p28 from the obd1 sohc . if you are gonna run a sohc its pretty much a good idea to keep everything sohc. it usually works best.

i currently have the Z6 in my 89 CRX Si and running the PR3 (OBD0 B16A ecu) with a Mugen program (deletes 2nd O2 and knock sensor so it won't throw a check engine light) and the car runs beautifully. The best thing about this is that it plugs right up to the 4th gen harness and only requires the extra wiring of two wires (vtec oil pressure and vtec solenoid). People will argue with me that converting to OBD1 is better, but heres your three senarios (sp?):

PM6 88-91 Si ecu/PR4(obd0) 1.8 dohc ecu/PM7 dohc zc ecu :
all of these plug right into your harness and will work with a vtec activation device (fields vtec, VAFC, RPM controller). These are optimized when used with a fuel control device and a dyno (if you can get to one) but will all run with no problems.
Price: :$25-75 dollars depending on where you look for the ecu, and anywhere from $70(rpm switch)-250(vafc/fields)
Ease of install(out of 5 stars) :
Price :
Performance :
Overall rating :

PR3/PWO (dohc vtec obd0 ecu) :
this will run the motor great too, but it must be equipped with a rechipped chip to remove the 2nd O2 sensor and knock sensor. Plugs right in to your current harness and needs to run two additional wires for vtec activation.
Price : $200-250 for ecu and 25-50 for rechip
Ease of install :
Price :
Performance :
Overall Rating :

OBD0-OBD1 conversion to P28 :
Requires use of obd1 dizzy and injectors and P28 ecu plus additional OBD0-1 harness. I have never done this so i am going on responses from this board which have all seemed to be positive, i can only comment personally on the top two, which i had the first option when i first did my swap and didn't like the car with the PM6 and summit switch. I had the PR3 laying around with the chipped program so i went with it and love it after 15000+ miles of driving. I also have the fields controller but rarely use it except to lower fuel a little as the PR3 runs a little rich and vtec cuts in at 5k RPMs so i don't move it around too much.
Price : I am assuming that you engine came with the dizzy and injectors if not add the prices accordingly. OBD harness 150-250 dollars shop around. P28 ecu 100-200 dollars.
Ease of install : Please someone leave their comment on a post because i can not leave a true rating to this
Price :
Performance : N/A
Overall Rating : N/A

hope this helps, good luck

that was really good how you broke down the side effects. i've been waiting for this info. but just as you, i need more info on obd0-1 conversions. i know you need the harness, ecu, injectors, and dist... is that IT?? if that's it that sounds best because i'm not confident about running into the v-tec rev range on a pr4 ignition map. one extra question though, why is the si dist always mentioned? i have an hf, can i just use that, hf injectors, pr4, and a vafc? i'm trying to avoid the pr3/pwo ecu if possible because they're expensive to get and i need to make the car pass emissions without a shadow of a doubt. the obd1 is sounding kind of nice. any and all info and past experiences welcome
