Default Alternator Q's

I have a 92' DA with a b16a2 swap, I recently just had to replace the alternator, I bought one from a 1993 delsol assuming b-series were interchangable, but since the car is OBD1 and the motor being OBD2 would the alternator have to be from another DA to work with the ECU? (p28 btw) the new alternator doesnt fit, so I dont know if that is also an issue, if its the original DA mounts or the ones off of the b16a2, but I dont have anyway of comparing or really knowing.

cliffs: do I need an LS alternator to work with a P28 running a b16a2?

-side note, if you have ever had to change the alternator in your dirt driveway, pour yourself a drink and give yourself a pat on the back, that was a bitch to do!!

cheers,

mitch

Obd0 and obd1 alternators have round style plugs and are interchangeable.

Obd2 have square type plugs.

Hope that helps.

D - D
B - B

Not sure on interchangeable with different motors unless you got the right brackets. Then the plugs are the same.

Whoever did the swap, should have just re-used your OBD0 alt (round plug). However, if they went throug the extra work to re-wire it to be difficult, then you would see an almost squre green or brown plug.

So, long story short. Easiest way to order would be

If you have round plug:
Order for your 1993 Integra just as if you didn't have an engine swap.

If you have the square plug:
Order it for a 98 Integra, any model

Actually for round plugs I order obd1 stuff from a 94-95 del sol vtec for engine parts. for b16a stuff.

obd2 would be 99-00 si

You could order for integra xsi as well on obd0.

There are alot of cars you could order from if you know more but most places don't know what an xsi is.

I researched alot about obd0 and obd1 alts a while back when doing an obd0 b16 into my eg and making everything obd1.

So as long as you have a b16/b18 alternator with a round style plug you are fine. You can use teggy ls or gsr. from 88 up to 95 and it will work for you.

jdmcars.com if you are talking to me I am still using a stock unmodified 92-95 ex/si harness with a round plug.
I stay away from obd2 at all costs.

thanks alot guys, It is the round connector.. I was worried about the ODB issue.. but now thats cleared up I can break out the file and expletive that bracket up!!
its such a bad spot for the alternator.. I didnt have to dissconnect the axle either, I just unhooked everything off the control arm and it gives you a C-hair of space to get it through between the body and the control arm itself... haha

thanks again.

cheers,

lol, I've poured myself several drinks by now heheh. And to answer your question, if you have the obd2 alternator on the car (meaning they switched the plugs), then go with that. As mentioned earlier, obd0 and 1 have the round plug (and therefore are interchangable). D-series -> D-series, B to B, Only ones that mix, would be H + F (require pulley change).
But on topic, you can get for your b16a2 if...
ROUND Plug (OBD0/1 Style):
88-95 B16* engines 1st gen b16/obd1 del sol VTEC
90-95 B18* engines DA/Early DC body integra

Square/Rectangle (OBD2 Style):
96-01 B18* later model DC integras
96-00 B16* obd2 del sol vtec/civic si/siR
96-00 B20* crv (obd2)

I'm off to sleep now, hope that helps some.
