Re: aall this talk about K-series (nomotor)
Any. As long as the swap is done per BAR guidelines (ie: US motor, All required emissions components, etc), it can be done legally. Just be sure to use a motor the same year or newer than the body of the vehicle it is being transplanted into.
It may take a bit more time and wiring, but it can be done..

All K20 engines (US & JDM) are newer than any EG civic. It's suggested to use a US K20 engine in order to pass at the BAR, providing you use the emissions equipment & ECU that belong to a US RSX.
....haven't heard of anyone doing this just yet, but I'm betting the immobilizer could be a problem for some to get the car running and down to a BAR ref station.

The engine itself does not have to be a U.S market. The Ecu, Cat and airbox have to be from the U.S market!!! Only the things that pertain to emmisision!!!

good info - I would like to know more. NY - just started emissions testing in Dec. my inspection is up in march which is when I will have it reinspected JUST BEFORE the (jdm) k20a install (currently stock d16y7). This will give me till March '06 to have to worry about all this...although I would like to get it all figured out well before hand. I was wondering if I could have a custom K-pro mappings (from dyno tuning) to pass emissons *scratches head*
side note ECU is a PRB (RSX-S) which I will have reprogramed w/ K-pro. I will probably have to find a shop that will let having a modified USDM ECU as long as it passes the test. & yes I do plan to run a hi-flow cat & full exhaust
