99 gsr motor in 2001 civic. complcations?
Ok, someone might buy my 99 gsr motor. they have a 2001 civic. they are wondering if the gsr mounts will work, or the gsr shiftlinkage. And im not selling axles, what axles would he use?? radioter hoses? will he need to buy gsr hoses? the swap comes with an obd-2 ecu. Please tell me how easy/hard this would be. what complications might arise. I know everything to put it into a eg civic, but not a 2001 civic. please fill me in, and I will let this dude know. thanx in advance.

I've been told that the 2K1 engine bay is too small to fit a B series motor without modification.

a k20 swap has been done in the 2k1+ civic and it had to have some modification. the guy lost his a/c, power steering, the battery had to be relocated and some other mods, but all of it can be hooked back up with some custom hoses. as for your question as of right now i do not think that it has been done, the b-series swap, but it can be.

it fits but you do have to make mounts and it's not emissions legal... it has been done i'll try and find the link (motor was in wasn't running yet)

I have done a K20.
I think a gsr would not be any easier. not a bolt in at all.
Custom mounts, axles, shift linkage, wiring, and so on.

If i'm not mistaken, the swap is about as hard as swapping a Mazda RX-7 twin turbo rotary into a 89 CRX. In otherwords extensive modification is required. The stock motor for a 2K1 Civic and a 99 GSR spin in totally opposite directions. I'm sure this would arise huge problems.

right now im finishing the design of the BOLT IN mount kit for the k20's into the 01 cars. next i will be doing the b-series into the 01's....room wise looks like no big deal, that k-searies is not small so i dont see any problems with the B. if that guy wants to buy your GSR he needs to know that its not an easy beginer type thing he will want to get into.IMO
