97' LS MOTOR!!!! Do I use, GS-R, SI, LS , TRANNY?!?! WHICH ONE!
Ok well maybe I don't have enough money for a Type-R tranny, but other than that which one should I use?
I got a JDM YS1 Tranny on my car right now, which is a cable tranny for a 92' engine which is also cable....
I am puttin in my 1997 LS motor in my car soon, but I want a different tranny cause my JDM is grindin in 3rd, So my question is :
I have around $400.00 to spend, I need a HYDRO tranny......Even a freakin LS would be fine, but I need to know which one to get....and which ones years, etc would work....thanks all....peace

OK, cause Im going Allthrottle Allbottle with this new 97 motor, 125 shots to be exact of N20, just need a better tranny that ratios are a bit shorter to get me up the rpm range where i can get the most outta the internals

an ls tranny will not work as well as a gsr or b16. you will be well under 275 hsp to the wheels.

OK i think imma go for the B16, they are relatively Cheap as well...
ONE MORE THING!
My Motor is Hydraulic Tranny, what If I use a CABLE tranny? Will I have to change anything? Im more use to CABLE Trannys and they are a lot MORE INEXPENSIVE

right now i've got a ls. i don't like it. with my raised rev limit i have actually been through the traps still in 3rd gear. (my turbo doesn't make power that high though, i was just ****** around). i will be running a hybrid tranny next year. i know some guys that run around 250-270 to the wheel. one is probably closer to 250 and runs an itr tranny. the other is 270 ish and runs a b16. these guys are running slicks and rev to 8200 rpms. imo, for an ls (only 125 to the wheels), 7800 rpm's if you dare, and lets say a 100 shot, street tires(depends on diameter) a gsr tranny or b16 would run good.
just my experience/opinion.
