Default 97 GSR into a 00 civic Si

I am thinking of buying a 00 Si that has no motor, tranny, or ECU and I was wondering what was involved in swapping a 97 GSR that I have into it. thanks for the help.

That would be very easy. Get the 97 GSR b18c1, get a 99-00 Si, or Ex engine wire harness, get the rear Si mount, side civic mounts, and run a wire for the secondary butterflies. Then, get a GSR ecu and you are pretty much all set.

Why doesnt a 00 Si have an engine??

Thanks for the help. The motor is gone because it was stolen. It still has the wiring on the car. I would just need to find the mounts that hook to the B16a and put them in the GSR, drop in the motor. What is involved in runing the wire for the secondary butterflies. I appreciate the help alot.

Is there alot of differences from a civic EX and si if the si has no motor or tranny.

Don't quite understand that one.

Oh check out http://www.hybrid.honda-perf.org Look for 6th gen swap info. All the parts needed are in a list there. Also, the butterfly wire topic is covered.

Oh, and get yourself a helms manual for a 2000 civic. It will cover all models from 96-00. Cost is about 60 bucks, but doing a swap with one is easy.

You said the wires are still in the car? You sure about that? I doubt the people stealing the engine took the time to disconnect every little connector. It is a pain.

i think you just have to contact your insurance company when you swap motors so if they run the numbers on your car and engine it registers...

There actually is. Si has better suspension, better brakes, better interior, and better exterior appearance. Well, that's depending on what's left of the car.

The newer 6gen swap page is here: http://www.jspectuning.com/6gen/

Hybrid hasn't updated the site in a long while.

As for which wire harness you need, get the 99-00 Si engine harness because you'll have problems with the interior harness plug (green one at the ecu). If you get 96-98 harness the speedo won't work (no Vtec) and the fan switch won't work (overheats).

HTH,

Have you thought about just getting another B16? Unless you already have The B18, plus, doesnt the engine have to be newer than the car if you swap?
