Default 2000 Si With B18c1

Hello everyone,

i have been reading and searching for possible problems with this issue. and i figured id post to see what opinions you guys might have.

Problem #1: I have a 2000 Si with a B18C1, that is still running on the P2 Ecu. ( i just got the car and they did not wire it to the gsr ecu, im looking for a 2000 gsr ecu to rewire the harness and get the motor BARD. yes i live in california =\ )

My idle is roughly at 1500-2000 during cold start and drops to 900-1000 during normal driving. If i stop long enough the idle will drop to normal range 700 rpms. (long enough meaning roughly 2-5 mins)

Problem #2: My heater is not working, i had my friend check the valve and reconnected it, but it still is not blowing hot. I am going to check the heater core to see if it is receiving coolant.

Problem 3: He disconnected the power steering and AC. I want to reconnect this do i need any special brackets to connect the Ac? I need to find a reservoir for the Power steering because he took that out too. for " weight"

Besides that the car is in decent shape. interior is nice. going to redue the front end and possibly rebuild the motor later on and boost it.

thank you for your contribution

Pm sent.

You just need the b series off a GSR or si to hook back up the power steering and ac. The power steering resivor should be the same on all 96 to 2000 civics. You can find them new through majestic Honda or used through the market place on ht or eBay. As far as ac, is your lower fan working when u try to turn ac on? If it does I would verify that you are in fact getting coolant to the heating core.

I know the pulley is still on the motor just not connected by the belt for the power steering, i just need to purchase the reservoir, as far as placing the fluid back into the lines is there anything special i need to do? i just seen this NRG power steering reservoir tank. has anyone used this? i am just looking incase i cannot find a stock one.

I will check to see if the fan turns on when i get to the car. as far as the fluid to the heater core. i still need to check that.

As far as the idle what do you think? could it be because of the Ecu off of a Si. Or what?

PM Replied
Thank you

Yes I think the correct ecu will more than likely take care of your idle problems. When you fill the the ps up turn the wheel all the way to one side and then to the other to get any air out. Do this a couple times.

So i checked the car, the hoses going to the heater core, the one on the left closest to the passanger was warm and the one closest to the driver side was cold. And there is a kink in the line. it looks like they used the wrong hose to connect it because it bends back i almost thought the heater core was connected to itself. The heater valve is connected to i know its not that.

as far as the ac the fan does not turn on when i turned on the ac.
