Default 1st gen b16a to obd1 setup

i had just blown my b18c1 that is in my 92 eg.... since my fund is not sufficient im going to get me a 1st gen b16a(non-obd). my question i guess is do i just swap over the parts from the old engine? can i use the gsr ecu with this setup? any response is much appreciated.. thanks

yes you can swap over your gsr stuff. However, you will have to drill a spot for a knock sensor since the first gen block doesn't have one. The spot is there I mean, just not the sensor. Then use your GSR distributor and ecu. Or you could chip your ecu with a program that eliminates the knock sensor. What ever you wanna do. Good luck. BTW, this is my setup.

just remove your old knock sensor from your b18c block and measure the hole diameter.

first gen B16A's do have a knock sensor. youll need your gsr distributor injectors and driver side mount off the block. and you will have to extend two wires for the water temp sensor. just helped my friend do the same thing.

indeed distributor, injectors, side mount and bottom mount. you can even swap the cams for few extra HPs.

instead of extending the wires you can simply swap the thermostat housing with the sensor

and yes 1st gens do have knock sensors if they are JDM only EURO cars don't have them but then again its already tapped for it.

thanks for all the replies you guys!!! ill probably swap the 1st gen since its cheaper and ill definitely swap the cams out....
