Default 1999 Civic Ex/Gsr Swap Question

I was wondering if anybody has done a swap on a 2000 civic ex by chance. I am trying to swap a 1999 gsr motor into my 2000 civic ex and I was wondering if anybody knows exactly how to wire this. I am hearing that I have to swap harness because the civic has a one piece harness that I need to use on the gsr motor. Can anyone give me specific instructions on the wiring conversion here or steer me to an online resource. Thanks

Sounds like you've done a lot of research before jumping into this.....
Anyway, you will reuse your stock EX engine harness and transfer it onto the GSR motor. Then depending on what ECU you are using, you might need an adapter harness and some additional wiring.

Can anyone give me specific instructions on the wiring conversion here or steer me to an online resource.
The SEARCH function on this site will usually help you find answers to these questions.

you will need an interior harness jumper. you can do the swap and run the motor off your stock ex ecu until you get the harness jumper. king motorsports makes them, but i went through mahdavi motorsports in GA to get mine. they'll ship it to you. but whoever you go through make sure they know exactly what year and model civic and what year and model motor you swapped in. i did this same swap, so i know for a fact that the ex ecu will run a gsr motor. just don't expect to win many races cuz the fuel is all wrong and the rev limiter kicks in like 1000 rpms too early

i almost forgot...the distributer plugs don't match, so you can either buy a 99-00 si wire harness or go to a junkyard and find a 96-98 ex or any obd2 (don't know about obd1) gsr plug and splice it on. i think your stock plug has one more wire than the gsr plug, but it was just an extra ground or something like that. my friend swapped the two plug shells and my motor runs fine. you'll just have to do some research on all the wires to figure out where they go in the plugs.

I can just use the plugs on the gsr harness for the distributor right. I dont need a jumper harness if i run the obd2 gsr ecu right.

The GSR is OBD2 but the 00 EX is OBD2.5. You would need a jumper harness to use the 99 GSR ECU, but I'm almost sure that it has an imobilizer built in so........ Best thing would be to get an OBD2.5 to OBD1 jumper harness and use an OBD1 P72 ECU.
