Is the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback a True Sports Car?

I really don't know
Re: Is the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback a True Sports Car?
I like the new hatchback.
Hatchbacks are the best cars Honda ever made.
In 10 years when the hate wears off, people will appreciate these just like they did with the 1992-1995 hatchback.
Still not even close to a sports car.
Even the Honda Civic R Type model is not a sports car and it beats real sports cars.

I don't mind the new hatchbacks. I really don't. I just mind when people try to make them out to be something that they are not. Other (more-seasoned) journalists have commented that this car has the Honda mojo back. But this pair took it way over the top and called it a "sports car", which it absolutely is not.

Have you driven one yet? It has V6 torque. Its very un civic like when you nail it. The Type R will have 300, the Si. 200.
They will sell over 300k a year, not sure they can even make more than that.

177 ft-lbs is V6 torque? When's the last time a Honda sold a V6 with those figures, the C27 in the '97 Accord?

Since when does HP define a sports car? A Miata is *the* definition of a sports car, regardless of whether it is "fast" or not. And I put fast in quotes because 0-60 in 5.8 seconds is nothing to sneeze at.

Lollin @ calling a Miata the definition of a sports car.
If you have to ask if a 2017 Honda Civic hatch is a sports car, chances are like 6/5 of your senses aren't working.

You people need to look up what a sports car actually is before you reply.

So yeah actually they do put down pretty close to J-series torque numbers of just a few years ago and based on torque to weight figures the Civic has more relative torque. Per Motortrend's dyno test.
