Default winter driving

Hi...thinking about switching over to a s2k....it will most likely be my daily for now. for those who use it as daily and live in the northeast......how is it? and will winter tires be good enough to survive the winter?

btw im going from an audi S4 to s2k. lemme know what you guys think. thanks!

where in the northeast are you??

blizacks on the S.. will work perfect in snow.. however.. if there is more then 3-4 inches of snow.. you can forget about it unless you want to be a plow...

My s2k is a daily driver. I have Hankook Icebears on mine and they work like a charm...but like papa5murf said; Anymore than 4 inches and you become a plow.

and he drives an S4 *cough *cough lol

the % of s4's disappearing is much higher than s2k's, but s2k theft is on the rise

since you live in jersey, i do not recommend the S for daily driving unless you have a beater for winter

i stuck dunlop snow tires on mine and it drives prety good in the snow, the only bad thing is that i should have gotten a higher speed rating tire

somethingstupid,
I own an AP2 and this is my 3rd winter in Michigan. Michigan sees a large amount of snowfall (althought not so far this year) and we have some of the crappiest roads in the country. For winter driving I bought a second set of wheels and mount Dunlop Winter Sport M3 winter tires. They are a speed rated winter tire and work wonderfully. I have never gotten stuck, unless it snowed like 6"+.

Thankfully the crime rate on the S isn't so bad here in MI (knock on wood) but I would anticipate that for you it would be higher in New Jersey. Regardless of what car you have you have the probability of theft. Best bet would be to stay with your Audi and upgrade the security system, or park in less vulnerable places if possible.

Regards,
Christopher

hey thanks alot for everyone's input....its actually surprising....in some of the audi forums..i get like one or two responses.

well my plan is to pick up an s2k by feb or so...hopefully there wont be much snow this winter...but my job gives me the ability to work from home, so that shouldnt be a problem.

as for theft of the seats - getting a hardtop should deter most thieves right? hehehe.

well we'll see what happens...but i do appreciate everyone's response. thanks guys!

NJ ppl...whats going on?

winter hasn't been that bad around here in the last few years. you should be ok with winter tires and no drop...

in regards to the MI roads....

i just moved to columbus for grad school and there is like an instant difference... as soon as you cross into the Ohio border the roads get instantly 100 times better... although the speed limit here sucks.
