Default Why would someone do this to a transmission?

I was changing the transmission fluid in my recently purchased s2000 and I noticed someone had cut up around the slave. Why would someone do this? Everything seems to run fine, and I have been running the tranny pretty hard and everything drives fine. Any ideas? Thanks

WTF?!! HAHA!! It looks like you bought my old car. Sorry man. We beat the crap out of that thing before I traded it in. I think I held it at redline for like 5 mins from a dead cold start. Me and my friends did do-nuts for like the whole night. I cut around the slave cylinder because of some ghetto clutch mods. Hard to explain. Sorry you got that car though. Consider trading it in...seriously. We did some REALLY messed up stuff to it. Look for a penny in the intake manifold.

my guess would be that the last owner cheaped out and tried to fit another car's slave onto it

when you change the clutch they want you to pull out the shift fork as much out as possible, but it wont fit through the hole.
looks like this guy put the tranny together after clutch install and realized at the last moment that the clutch fork was on wrong or something, so instead of pulling the tranny down again, he cut the hole to fix the problem.....

those small holes are not going to hurt anything unless debris gets into the clutch housing. Other than that, it just looks horrible

yeah, not really worried about it, just curious. No one is going to see it anyway, and everything runs well.
