We've got a PROBLEM! :( Pls help!
GDay Guys,
We're in the process of completing the build process of our new Westfield Clubman powered by an S2000 running gear. We also have the ECU and loom to go with the engine and gearbox. The problem we now have is that the Honda ECU's are designed to suit a Honda ignition key and as I said we bought the engine, gearbox and ECU/loom, however we didn't get the Honda key that went with that particular s2000. Unfortunately this is causing us headaches due to the car being so close to getting on the road and we are unable to start the motor due to this problem.
My question(s) to you is(are) this...
Have you heard or experienced such a problem with the s2000 ecu/motor/loom???
If so are you able to assist us with our problem or point us in the right direction?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Please emil me back if you can assist us as I'm not a forum regular, I only decided to join t see if anyone could help us.
Kind Regards,
Michael Frederiksen

What you should do is get the engine's number and have a dealer trace it back to the car that it was originally installed in. Honda could then make you a key for that specific ECU. You may have to prove to them that you have the engine for security purposes (can't be giving out keys to anyone so prove to them you actually own the engine). This seems like a rational fix to the problem...
Well, if the vin number will check out to your ownership, get them a picture of the engine number and the vin number clearly visible...They can then run the vin, find out its yours, and then give you a key.
Thanks Mate. We'll give it a try!

Isn't the VIN number on the chassis?
We imported this engine/gearbox/loom/ecu from a USA Honda wrecker. The original s2000 was burnt out after being stolen, then found and given to a wrecker.
Obviously our purchase is ALL legit! So, if the VIN is on the chassis, we have no chance of finding out what it is... it's totally fried. we actually had to replace some external engine components due to barbequing.
We'll see how we go with the engine number thing.
Idealy we'd like to have the 'immobiliser reprogrammed OUT of the ECU or disabled.
