Okay so I changed my starter out and now the car will randomly start and then it won't Other times it will only start in gear and then I have to wait some minutes before it does again.
The starter clicks fine and the arm tries to start the car. But it will just click. The battery is brand new and so is the starter and the alternator. But the connection in the back of the alternator (the one with the metal ring is a little loose. Could that be the culprit. I mean I messed around with it and wiggled it and then the car will start fine but right after that it won't.
I have no idea where to even start. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The alternator is brand new and all the connections are securely fastened. Battery is brand new as well. I ordered another starter so lets se eif that fixes the problem. Anybody else with some insight?

Engine control module? I took off the negative terminal on the battery. Guess things got reset with that?
there is a ground on the starter itself. This usually is the problem for a "one click" deal. If it goes "click click click" a bunch of times, then it might not be getting enough juice.
I'd suggest that you get a voltmeter and measure the voltage AT THE STARTER as someone tries to start it (use clip leads and stand away). Should be around 11.5 volts, possibly a bit lower with the starter load. Measure at the battery as well. There shouldn't be much difference in voltage.
