Weird engine idle/cooling problem
Ok..
So I've come along way on this frankenstein of mine. I'm basically just trying to get my S to run and idle as stock in 100% stock condition.
Right now I am having a funny issue with the idle/cooling system that I can't seem to work out. The idle pulses.
The motor is nearly peiced back together, the only mod is that it has a Hondata IM gasket. The thermostat is brand new.
I have tried bleeding the entire system with this procedure.
1. Filled the radiator
2. Filled the overflow tank to between Min and Max
3. Turned the car on with full heat on.
4. Openned the bleeder on the IM and pulled the cap from the firewall.
At first the heat didn't work and the thermostat wouldn't open, instead it would blow ambient temp air out of the heater and the idle would pulse between 1500 and 2500RPM. In time, the idle would sit down to 1500RPM and pulse very quickly between 1500-1600RPM. At this time, the overflow tank would start to bubble and would eventually fill completely. At this time, I shut the car down.
I got impatient of trying to diagnose it in time and then proceeded to burp the system (cap off and spewing) for about 20 mins and bled both ports completely. At this point, the heat came on and worked fine but the idle was still bumpy. I assume there was a big bubble that it got out.
Today I tried to do the idle re-learn proceedure. I kept the car pinned at 3000RPM until it heated up, but before the lower radiator hose became hot the overflow tank began bubbling and filled itself up. I let the car back down to idle and it just pulsed between 1500-2500RPM. I shut the car down at this point.
I am really unsure as to what to do, or whats causing the issue. I'd seen someone say that if that bubbles under full boost that could be related to the HG, but this rig is idling and is not boosted.
I am not throwing any related CELs (just for the O2).
What can I do?
