? ? ? Used NSX Issues ? ? ?
What exactly is it that needs to be replaced on the NSX that everybody's talkin about on here? Besides the Snap ring for 91 and 92 what's the biggie that breaks and costs lots? I'm not the pro just wanna see what I'm getting my self into. So like part names are appreciated. Oh, and i know it eats tires. That's beside the point
I realize it's "a 10 year old car" like everyone says all the time but I wanna know facts. Not forum speculation.
Thank you gentlemen.

There aren't a lot of parts that often need replacement, other than tires.
There are the usual scheduled maintenance items, as described in the NSX FAQ here. The big buck item there, when shopping for an older NSX, is to make sure that the timing belt (part name = "timing belt"
) and water pump ("water pump") have been replaced. Honda's recommendation is every 90K miles or 6 years, whichever comes first. Many owners of '91-95 cars have not had this done because they haven't hit the mileage interval, but it's overdue based on the time interval and should have been done.
The non-scheduled big-buck item is the clutch ("clutch"). Clutch life varies, anywhere from 30K to 100K miles. When it goes, you're looking at $2000-2500 for a '91-96, $4K for a '97+.
There are other items that can break and can be expensive, but are relatively uncommon, notably the air conditioning.

P.S. Roughly 80 percent of the '91 cars are not in the range of transmission IDs that are susceptible to the snap ring problem, so don't ignore the '91 for that reason.
