I have the Berks testpipe and noticed the same thing a while back. Not a lot, but just a very small puff on take-off. I have 52k miles. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I have the Berks TP as well, but no smoke, only steam on a cold morning.

As far as test pipes go these are the only things that should matter.
1. the testpipe's inner diameter matches the piping of the rest of the exhaust
2. mates up to the flanges like OEM
3. has good welds at flanges
4. has o2 bung
5. and is made of at least 304 stainless material
As for the name backing it.
Just pick one you trust, and it doesn't have to be some uber expensive JDM brand either.
