ive been tinkering with the idea of adding a small sub to my current system without the use of the trunk. ive decieded on the FOCAL be 5in woofer. where are some places that i could install it?

heres pics and specs on the sub.

I've never heard it....but CAN a 5" woofer really hit that hard?

 

Utopias? Youve seen the price of them? They are meant for mid bass and SQ. They wont hit that hard. If your dead set on them, you can mold them into the kick panels.

 

12" in trunk.. problem solved.. thats what i did....

ive seen the price and it doesnt scare me im running CDT es07.2 components (1200) and a audison vrx 2.250 (1200). the 7in comp. put out really really good midbass, but looking for something for the lower freqs.

youd be surprise as to how these sound for a 5in woofer.

i just went to pick up a mock up woofer to play around with and at the moment, i mught be able to get it under the dash somewhere. if all else fails... image dymamics 10" will have to go into the trunk.

i dont think the "feel" would be any good with it under the dash... .. jsut say ***** it and get truck riders... put them behind the seats...

i am running 3 way JL's in the door with a AudioBahn 12" in the trunk...

 

I was just down at our local Sound Advice and talking to them about a sub. They managed to utilize the space where a glove box would be and built a box there with a 10" sub.

 

how they manage that? the heatercore is there.....

Mounting depth for behind the seat can't be more than 2" to 2.25 depending on design. 89mm is around 3.5" and might not clear. Try mounting that 5" woofer in the door speaker slot, and throw some good tweeters on top in addition to some 5.25"s behind you. Good luck.

Its been done in that area a few times. Also, its been done on the bottom there (passenger footwell). try searching on s2ki for it

 

i know the kickpanel can be done but under the dash by the heatercore.. idk about that one.. gotta see and hear it

I'm not a fan of subs period but the under dash was on s2ki awhile back. All custom and too pricey for a lil sub IMO

I wasn't even thinking that. Too much junk = bad, has to be the right amount

 

lol.. 12" junk has enough Bass for me and i still have a full trunk

what made you assume that i was "SO" into sq? i never mentioned that in of my posts. we all know the s2000 isnt the ideal car for a sq system due to its poor sound stage. if you cant help with my thread, please step out.

to all that give me some sort idea on how to go aboout it, THANKS! im gonna do the mock up this week and if its a no go... custom enclosure for a 10 in the trunk will be made.

Dead serious... I think I saw it on S2ki when they were making fun of "show" cars.

 

i got some 6 and a 1/2 Polks in my door that thump pretty hard...but i keep 'em clean tho
