Steering Differential
Im kinda new to s2k's and i have been wondering about something. Do the jdm ones have the first ever steering differntial? Something that makes it more responsive at low speeds and more stable at high speeds. I read it some where and I wasnt sure of its accuracy. If so , could u ge thte steering colomn n shove it on one of the usdm ones? Sorry for the nubness.
Actually there is a trim level of S2000's in japan with variable steering. I believe they made them last year, but I am not sure if they are still in production or not. I may be mistaken, but I think they were called Type V (any confirmation of this). The only difference between this car and the regular S2K was the variable rate steering, and the steering wheel whic had a flat bottom section and silver inserts in the top and bottom parts of the wheel with a "VCS" logo on them.
Again I'm sketchy on the details, but I do know this car does in fact exist, just didnt come over to the states. If memory serves I think I recall reading that it didnt do to well over in Japan anyway.
Maybe someone else could fill in my blanks?

It is called VGS....Variable Gear ratio Steering....
Makes the wheels turn more at low speeds, with less turns of the steering wheel, and opposite at high speeds for better handling....
very cool feature, and kick *** steering wheel...i will try and find a pic of it.

I've been really interested in this, but the reading material is quite thin if you aren't up to par with your Japanese. Does any have any clue how easy it would be to take the VGS from a jdm type-v and move it over to a udsm s2k? I wasn't sure if the RHD/LHD thing would be an issue.

I'm sure it would be very possible...and quite easy once you obtained the hub and rack. But doesn't the VGS system have all these sensors and whatnot that tell the computer what speed the car is going and all that? I'm sure the ECU has something to do with that. Having this VGS system on a USDM car would probably be more trouble than it's worth. But what do I know?
Now that I think about it, that system would probably mess up my driving.
