this and the fact that the first official year this car was for sale was on the year 2000. (even though it was mass produced and for sale in 1999)

Actually, the first car that inspired the S2000 was the S500. (which was based off of a roughly 500cc motorcycle engine revving to 9500rpm).

A little correction. The S500/S600 models had a 10k redline. The 9.5k redline was for the S800.

A little correction. He was right, the S500/S600 had a 9.5K redline; the S800 was 8.5K. But that's not to say either engine couldn't be reved higher than the redline posted on the tach. My S600 will turn 11K rpm's with the set of quad Mikuni carbs it's got.

 

Now I stand corrected. They were winging those things to 10k like it's cool, though. Damn chain drive.

Who cares what its called, I just hope it is performs like the AP1/2, and isn't ugly.

 

When I bought my first civic there was an old Honda roadster in the showroom, then I was introduced to the AP2. Now I'm selling the civic to get an AP1 because of falling in love with the classic roadster. I don't remember the model, s200 sounds right to me, but I could very well be mistaken.

There was an S360 that never made it to production.

The production models were:

S500, S600 and S800. And now we have the S2000.

 

The "NEW" S2000 is called a Honda XGA. I love my s2000 but the XGA is amazing!
