Default S2000's value increase or decrease?

I really want an AP1 S2K, but it's going to take me a while to save up for one, and I am worried that they no longer produce the S2000 that the street value on them will go up, like look at the RX7 it's a old car but they are very expensive now because they are rare. Do you think the S2000 will go down in price over say the next year or increase?

2 different things to consider and there's a lot of slack from the economy as well.

1) the car will get older, rack up more miles etc.
2) the car will get rarer as they explode, crash, get stolen.

I think the average will stay somewhat the same where it is now, and the extremes will be more extreme. So the cheapest S2k's will be cheaper than they are now, but the good condition clean ones will go a little higher.

Do you think this is a good deal?

"Hi everyone, I’m selling a 01 Spa Yellow Honda S2000. The chassis has 130-140k miles and the motor has 60k miles. The car has a Clean Title. I am the second owner of this car, the previous owner purchases a new motor directly from Honda and I have all the paperwork of the motor swap. The motor is running strong and regular maintenance on time (oil change @ 3k, coolant, etc). Exterior and interior in excellent condition. All the car covers will be included. I bought this car for pleasure and now it’s time for me to move onto a bigger car as my family gets bigger. Currently the car is garaged since I have another car for daily."

He is asking $8,999 O.B.O

umm how come would take 7500 a week ago but not now? 7500 is a good price for that. I bought mine same year but way less miles for 8000

I would say the price won't change that rapidly. In maybe 5 or 6 years would be my guess. Don't wait too long as I know people start wanting to hold onto them since they will become rare.

I'd say that is not a good deal. Get one with a matching motor. You have no idea how many miles are on the one installed there.

Also, I believe the value of the S2000 will start to go up around 4 or 5 years after they no longer produce it.

If all the paper work is there, it should have mileage of the motor at least...

decrease followed by a small increase initially then a large increase over time

if an s2000 has been in a little bumper bender very early in its life, does that affect the value of it overtime?By bumper bender,i mean that the headlights are orignal and only the front bumper was replaced but it still has a clean title.

With the low production numbers and the obvious fact that less and less will be on the road as time goes on, there is a possibility the value of the s2000 could increase.

My friend just sold his AP1 with mods for I believe 8-9k, it had 136k but everything was leakdown/compression tested; the reason for that was because he was going to throw his inline pro turbo kit on but ended up wanting something different so he sold the car and still did the LD and CT for reassurance. I think as the other person said a few post above, it will stay around average for the time being.

So what would be worth more ap1's or ap2's.....would it depend on certain color combos..like example..if there made 15,000 2003 s2000s in black with black interior and only 1000 2003 white s2000 with tan and black would the white be worth more since its more of a rare car?

s2000 value is going to significantly drop more than it has so already. Its not a limited production, I doubt they will hold much value in the future. If anything, a bone stock ap1 many years down the road may hold some value.

I think AP2’s might be worth more since less where produce as the years went on. CR's could be worth the most depending on color and options.

00-03 vs. 04-09 ? and not to mention that the F20C motor will slowly become rarer as they get crashed/blown up/spun

I would say the newer ones. No matter how you look at it, the older, the more driven, more wear. However if the car has been babied all it's life and has 1000 miles on it, that's different.

It's gonna be a long time before they begin to appreciate, I would think.

clean s2k's are hard to come by. Sure many owners claim that thier S is clean and they got a good deal yadda yadda...., but is it really? To me, a car like the S should have all orginal paint and no more than 10k miles/year.

Any car that doesn't meet that criteria and doesn't appeared to be garage kept should be at least worth 15-20% less.

Unfortunately, I think the price of s2k's are being dictated by all the crashed and "repaired" s2ks on the market. Owners with clean cars who price thiers compareably are suckers or an opportunity for a good buy.
