S2000 Vs. porsche boxter opinions
So im in the market for an S2k, but i used to want a boxster. Im mainly looking for first hand experience but im open to hearing everyones opinions. Which would you prefer? Im specifically talking about a 98-05 Boxster S model ( 245 hp engine ) or a 06+ boxter base model (240 HP engine)
looks wise i love the S2k but i also love the boxster. the boxster has a little more prestigous feel to it being a porsche compared to the honda. performance wise i think the boxster would be better seeing it uses bigger tires, bigger brakes, better weight ratio ect, and i dont really mind that the porsche costs alot more money to service. So whats everyone elses opinion on the matter? im leaning towards the boxster so far, but id like to hear others opinions

i undersatnd everyone is bias to honda lol.... but can we be a little serious here? ok so far we have the boxster is more "refined" than a z4 and a s2k.
i dont want a z4 so we can just forget about that lol....

1. Why dont you just go test drive both and make up your own mind since money isn't an issue? For most people money and cost of servicing is an issue...
2. Why are you asking a bunch of guys on a honda forum? Why don't you pose the same question to the porsche guys...
3. This thread is lame.

Re: S2000 Vs. porsche boxter opinions
For me its about bang for the buck.
price: s2000
cost to own: s2000
power: boxster
power to weight: very close
tq: boxster
fun: ? opinion, but id say s2000
handling: ? prob s2000
basically the main thing is price. for the cost of a boxster you could have a mint s2000 with money left to play with. hardtop, bolt ons, etc. in my eyes you would have a much nicer car.

Boxters are rich girls' miatas. I would definately go s2k. I wouldnt really call a boxter a prestigious car. you can have them used for under 18k, and that might even be a high figure.

1: ive driven AP1 AP2 boxster s and a base boxster... i like them all... thats why this thread exists
2: its on a honda forum because its regarding a honda... its also on a porsche forum because it involves a porsche. this thread has just as much right to be here as it does any porsche forum so your statement is utter stupidity
3: go **** yourself... if you dont like the thread stop wasting your time in it no ones forcing you to post in it or read it. just because you cant afford it doesnt mean you have to hate on people who can.
so anyone else who can post any useful bits of info or opinions please continue

i predict this thread getting locked....be a grown up and decide what car you want instead of asking a bunch of strangers on the internet because i can tell you what people will say...if youre on the porsche forum they'll tell you the boxster, since youre in the s2000 forum, evryone is going to say the s2k

if you like boxter go with the boxter, atleast there wont be any other owners ricing them out like SOME s2000 owners do.IMO,boxter is a disgrace on porsche.

Re: S2000 Vs. porsche boxter opinions
s2000 for sure.
50:50 weight ratio
9k rpm
pretty much equal HP
lots of aftermarket support
nice car community (s2ki)
cheaper to fix
looks more appealing
need i say more?

anytime a honda is compared to bmw and porsche it is crazy! even. the video is out dated the s2000 is 2.2 now same power but i beleive it has more torque. but it is personal opinion

When people think like that ^ I think they are crazy. I get offended when people think my car is a BMW.

Re: S2000 Vs. porsche boxter opinions
Ive had people want to argue with me that my s2000 is a bmw.
Them-"You drive a bmw right?"
Me- "Uhh nope its a honda"
Them-"You sure?"
me-"Im pretty sure I'd remember buying a bmw"
all in all its personal preference. I've always wanted an s2000so thats why I got it. I wouldnt mind a porsche but I think the maintenance cost would be more for it. Maybe when I'm retired or something and can afford more toys. Obviously I cant say its a bad car because Ive never owned one. gl with your choice though either one will make you happy im sure

boxter is a better car than the s2000. It sounds way better than the lawnmower mill in the honda and it's power delivery is more refined.
On the other hand, if you looking for a car just to rag on and have fun on the track, the s2000 may be a better choice because I believe it to be more reliable and easier to maintain.
Other things to keep in mind is the boxter softtop is much better quality than the 2sk's which are know to have frequent problems and it's also a much quieter car suited from long drives not to mention the extra storage space.
In reality, aside from performance, I don't think it's fair to compare these cars as the boxter easily outprices the s2k.

anybody that compares "peak" hp figures without looking at the torque band, car type and feel, is a bench racer. just as bad as a ricer. " oh bro my car has a jDM b16 bro!!, i must be able to pull on yous LS" fail as ****.

Re: S2000 Vs. porsche boxter opinions
ive driven both the boxster and an s2k. the boxster was automatic. it felt kind of sluggish to me.
i dont own either car but if i had a choice, i would go with the s2k.
